BobbinSense: Low-Cost Bobbin Diameter Measurement

Problem

Calculating yarn winding diameter on a bobbin in the FIBC industry traditionally requires a PLC-based measurement system — accurate, but priced out of reach for many production lines that need several units.

Solution

Engineered a custom low-cost architecture using an MCU, purpose-selected sensors and an HMI display, bypassing the PLC entirely while keeping industrial-grade reliability and accuracy.

Result

A robust, accurate diameter-calculation product delivered at roughly half the cost of a traditional PLC setup — dramatically improving ROI for the client and making multi-line rollout affordable.

Web-Managed Sewing Automation

Cuts skilled-labor dependency
Problem

Sewing machine forward/reverse lever operation relied on skilled manual labor, increasing operating cost and creating a production bottleneck whenever that skill wasn't available.

Built a custom electro-mechanical device to automate the forward/reverse lever mechanism, with all settings configured and managed through a central web application rather than manual adjustment.

Deployed a sensor network feeding DWIN HMI displays for on-floor visibility, paired with a web application for centralized data logging and analysis.
